Response Protocols

Response protocols for active shooter situations are meticulously crafted procedures designed to minimize casualties and maximize safety in the event of an armed attack within a facility. These protocols typically emphasize the “Run, Hide, Fight” strategy, advising individuals to first attempt to escape the premises if it’s safe to do so, encouraging them to run and seek shelter. If escape is not possible, hiding in a secure location, barricading doors, and silencing communication devices is crucial to avoid detection. As a last resort, individuals are trained to confront the shooter collectively, using any available objects or improvised weapons to incapacitate the attacker, known as the “Fight” response. Regular drills, clear communication, and coordination with law enforcement are integral components of these protocols, ensuring a swift and organized response that can save lives in critical situations.
